MOSQUITO       MOUNTAIN LION       MOUSE       MUSKRAT
MOOSE
--WISDOM AND SELF-ESTEEM--

Moose reminds you to take pleasure in a job well done. Moose, through His call, says it is okay to tell the world how you feel - not "Fine" when asked "How ya doin'?", but rather "I'm doing grandly today, thank you for asking!" Moose does not ask permission to BE, He declares to the world that He IS and is proud of it! Moose reminds us that it is fabulous to feel joy in what we have accomplished. Moose takes nothing away from other creatures by being exuberant, He simply IS! Moose knows when to fight, as in the competitions of rut, and when to conserve energy, as during the long winters of the north He claims as His home. Moose counsels you to examine circumstances before wasting effort on a worthless battle.

Moose is associated with the elders of a tribe, who take pride in guiding the youth to maturity. Is there a youth who could use your counsel, or an elder from whom you may seek help?

If Moose has gained your attention, He may be telling you to be careful how much you prize your accomplishments. Spending so much time patting yourself on the back, you may miss the next opportunity, or you may miss the inspiration that could be gained through the accomplishments of others. Moose may be telling you to go inside yourself and listen -- be silent for a time. That way, when it is time to speak, your words will carry the wisdom and impact you most desire.

Mosquito reminds you that there is enough to go around. You may be trying to accumulate too much without regard for balance of needs. The Great Spirit shall provide for your needs if you ask. Have you been fishing and just kept catching and catching, without thinking of what you are doing to the hatching beds from which you are pulling the fish? What about "catch and release"? Or what about not fishing at all, if you don't need the food?

Alternately, mosquito is telling you to be aware of the bloodsuckers who may be out to take everything from you. If you have given your fair share, perhaps it is time to slap the little buggers!

Mountain Lion teaches lessons in the use and/or abuse of power. Mountain Lion is leadership. Mountain Lion reminds you there are many styles of leadership - you need to examine the circumstances under which She came to you.

Mountain Lion may warn you of being the target of all discontent within a group. It is easier for people to blame someone else than to take responsibility for problems their actions or inactions created... And who better to blame than the leader? Mountain Lion can also remind you to be prepared for the good and bad consequences of assuming leadership, when everyone else refuses.

Mountain Lion reminds you to stand your ground when it comes to moral convictions. But She also suggests that you review those convictions periodically to determine if they are still valid.

She may also be telling you to evaluate those who follow you and determine if you are willing to lead them, or if they are ready to be sent off on their own. Is it time to wean the cubs?

Mountain Lion is the peace keeper, though not everyone will always be happy, so before the peace comes the truth! If you are truthful, no one can fault you, although she or he may choose not to follow you.

Mountain Lion may be a warning to you to avoid being duped by a leader. Do not give your power to anyone who does not deserve it.

MOUSE
--CLOSE EXAMINATION, ATTENTION TO DETAIL AND
PARANOIA--

Mouse may appear to warn you to check the details, before signing on the dotted line. Or Mouse may be telling you that your are paying too much attention to the details and missing the joys of life.

Contradictory? Of course. But there are two sides to every coin. You have to look at the circumstances surrounding Mouse's sudden appearance within your circle of attention. Are you so lost in microscopically examining this kernel of corn in the bottom of this empty bin, that you miss the bushel in the next? Or are you so engrossed looking at the bushel that you starve to death, because you can't decide which bite to take first? Or did you buy the apple with the worm because you didn't bother to look beyond the red skin the grocer placed facing up in the display?

Mouse can border on the paranoid. Someone who takes no step, for fear of taking the wrong step, is said to be "timid as a mouse". Yet, in certain professions, this attention to detail is needed (bookkeeping, debugging software, tattooing). Mousy people are often accused of hoarding, but they will defend their stance that they just want to organize things so they can find them when they need them.

It is a strange mix that Mouse tells you to look at the circumstances (details) to determine whether you are paying too much or too little attention to them. Mouse is actually telling you to step back and emotionally disconnect yourself from involvement in the situation long enough to determine for yourself whether the situation warrants this drain on your energy.

Mouse may also be trying to tell you to lighten up in one area, and pay attention to other areas of your life that you may have let slip into disrepair. Mouse is a clean creature. Might He be trying to tell you to clean up your act (apartment, books, office, romantic life).

In some ways, Mouse's motto may be "Get a life!" with both implications of this adage - "pay attention to what you are doing", or "stop paying so much attention to what you are doing".

Mouse may have in mind, "Stop thinking you and what you are doing are so darned important!"

Muskrat has a coat of luxurious fur, coveted for its warmth and softness.

Be warned, however, against trying to take Muskrat's coat, for you will have to
deal with her teeth first.

In many ways, Muskrat is like Weasel - cunning
and stealthy.

Muskrat will sit at the edge of a crowd watching to see what she wants from the
group. When Muskrat makes her move, you can be guaranteed you will have lost
something in the encounter.

Muskrat's visit reminds you that someone may be trying to take something, and you
need to keep your eyes and ears open. She also reminds you that you may be
deceiving yourself, despite what you "know". Like Weasel, Muskrat reminds you that
you are the worst person you can lie to, regardless how small you might convince
yourself that lie is.

Muskrat suggests that you look at what you were thinking immediately before she
made her presence known, and try to determine if you were appreciating something
for its beauty, or for its value and worth. Were you allowing something in nature
to have its own beauty, or were you trying to find a way to take its beauty?
Muskrat may be telling you to open your eyes to the beauty that is you, and realize
you don't need to take someone else's.

If it was not you contemplating taking something from someone, perhaps you are
being warned that someone may be thinking of taking something from you that makes
you beautiful - this could be your beauty, joy, happiness, laughter, or most
anything else which makes you radiate love, and makes others see the beauty in you.
